In 2016, Taranto based Sneakers76 celebrated its tenth anniversary with a series of sneaker drops. Included in the celebratory collection is this edition of the Saucony Shadow 5000, which draws its design from the city’s coat of arms.
The coat of arms tells the story of the city’s mythic founding that can be traced back ancient Greece. As the story goes, Taras, son of Poseidon was shipwrecked off the Italian coast and delivered to land. Taras then founded the city of Taranto. Referencing the story, the coat of arms feature Taras riding on a dolphins with trident in hand. The coat of arms’ blue, red and yellow color mix informs those used on the Shadow 5000.

Suede and Leather premium for the upper, the colors are inspired from the City coat of arms. The toe in red and blue heel represent the colors of the City, the two different blu of the heel represent the two seas of Taranto (The City also known the City of the two seas). The middle part in two gray tones represent the colors of the Dolphin. The white color of the Saucony logo, the mid sole (water effect droplets) and the laces guard represent the white towel. The details in cognac leather and wood effect represent the colors of the materials of Sneakers76 store is made. The Saucony and Sneakers76 logos are embossed on cognac color leather sewn on gray insoles.
After selling out at Sneakers76, the kicks are releasing in the States through select shops like New Jersey based Packer Shoes.
