Paul George is already counted among the elite as a top tier player in the NBA. George is now ready to enter into an even more exclusive club with his very own Nike Basketball signature sneaker. As a member of the Nike Basketball signature club, George stands next to just 20 other ballers in NBA history, including active label mates, LeBron, KD and Kyrie.
To design the sneaker, Nike designer Tony Hardman worked with George for almost two years to tailor it to his game.
Nike describes the sneaker as a lightweight low-top that is given upper support with a sleeve design for fit, forefoot strap and Flywire cables for movement reactive support.
The sole is made for stability with Zoom cushioning on the forefoot and a Multidirectional scale-inspired blade traction configuration on the outsole.
For its debut release, the PG1 is fitted in a “2K” dubbed colorway that is inspired by George’s video game hobby and his cover status for NBA 2K17. The design further references George’s leisure activities with a bobber inspired lace-lock and scale textured base, both referencing his love for fishing.
The sneaker will make its court debut in London, on Thursday, the 12th of January as the Denver Nuggets face off against the Indiana Pacers.
A release date has not yet been disclosed but the sneaker will cost $110 USD when it launches.
