On first arrival to Solebox, at about 6:30 on Friday the 8th, it did not seem as though the most hyped shoe of the year was releasing the next day. I found only about 10 people in chairs outside and a sign stating the list was full and better luck next time. Solebox had chosen to go with a list which started with the first person coming on Friday the 1st of June. It turned out that the list overseer or the 1st in line had been doing list checks every 4 hours up until Wednesday and then every 2 hours up until mid day on Friday where the hourly check began. But when I showed up the “Line” was given a break for 3 hours and could explore the city or go home and shower or lay in a real bed.
By 8pm the swarm of hungry sneaker fiends was in full swing and most were in good moods having only 16 hours to go, also a beer company had been delivering cases of beer for those in line. The line consisted of mainly Germans but there was a group from Holland as well as a few from Poland.
