Kenzo has found itself in a place in fashion that few brands are able to achieve. In a few years Kenzo went from an obscure label with a lot of potential to one of the few lines that could rival the likes of Comme Des Garcons and Merci Beaucoup. On March 15th select Kenzo retailers and stores like Opening Ceremony will be hosting the newest footwear offerings by Kenzo in collaboration with Vans for the spring.
The sneakers are inspired by a trip Kenzo designers took through the Asian jungle, “In January 2012, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, Creative Directors of KENZO, visited Thailand with the purpose of trekking in the magnificent and awe-inducing Asian Jungle. Animals abound in this contained ecosystem that are unique to the world. Rare elephants, mischievous monkeys and a myriad of reptiles call it home, and most importantly it is here that the tiger is the king of the jungle. Â Carol and Humberto came across what would propitiously end up being the main inspiration for the prints of their Spring-Summer 2013 collection for KENZO, The Clouded Leopard.”
