New to the scene this season is the Jordan Fly ’89. Taking form with design references from the Air Jordan IV, the silhouette is currently on the racks on Nike.com in Europe. In the States, the sneaker goes live on the 26th of May.
Released in 1989, the Air Jordan IV represented everything that a young Michael Jordan needed: A stripped-down full-race basketball shoe complete with a lightweight nubuck upper and ventilation via instantly recognizable mesh-filled cutouts.
Now, 28 years later, parts of the original IV’s DNA inform the Jordan Fly ’89. The new lightweight silhouette merges iconic design elements of the IV — its wing lacing details and heel tab — with a Lunarlon sole. The result is a contemporary combination of style, comfort and history that pays homage to the IV’s legacy.
