From Filling Pieces ‘ Guillaume Philibert –
“… We owe part of our success to these small independent craftsmen who have been with us all the way. Those who understand and feel our vision. The bigger we get, the more important we find it to showcase how we make our shoes. A lot of people aren’t aware of the time, love and craftsmanship that goes into each shoe. This is the story of those who dedicate their efforts to bring you Filling Pieces. As we grow as a company, we never lose sight of our humble beginnings.”
The ‘Let Us Create’ campaign refers to the designing of soles from scratch, drawing, making moulds out of clay and eventually having them produced by the best sole manufacturers. For this season 5 new soles are introduced, starting with the 1st series as seen here. Named the Sky Sole – taking cues from the automotive world, with lines taken from the aerodynamically designed streamlined chassis’ of race cars. The Sky sole is made from rubber and features a similar bottom plate of our Fundament sole. The Roots Sole is made of EVA and is the lightest sole unit thanks to a manufacturing process that expands foam, before compressing it again to trap air bubbles within it. The Shark Sole has a tread inspired by the denticles seen on shark skin. The sole is created in close collaboration between FP’s design team and their research and development lab in Portugal and is made of TR which stands for Thermo Plastic Rubber, a material produced by compacting many tiny rubber pullets together under immense pressure.
