As performance and catwalk influence continues to blur footwear silhouettes and further gain traction amongst streetwear fans who want something far removed from retro styles, there seems no halting the current trend for bulkier, function led designs on streets mixed with high couture stylings. Recent Central St.Martins fashion graduate Kiko Kostadinov has given much new energy and gained positive attention to his catwalk showings and without further delay has dropped a surprise collaboration with Asics for S/S 2018. The Asics Gel-Burz 1 x Kiko Kostadinov shares familiar aesthetics with his apparel creations and adds a new futuristic element to an already high performance, hybrid design. Utilising a thin layer of rubber cast over the woven textile, which is further wrapped in a colour palette of limeade (our favourite definitely!), birch and black that parallel Kostadinov’s ready to wear lines. The new silhouette is the result of making a hybrid construction, combining elements of the Gel-Nimbus 20 and Gel-Venture 6. Additional support in the midsole is provided by Asics Flyte Foam technology providing a lightweight and hyper cushioned feel.

The aforementioned Nimbus and Venture guidance line remains effective and guides your movement as you shift your centre of gravity, impact shock is attenuated during toe-off phases thanks to the rearfoot and forefoot Gel cushioning systems. Meanwhile the Impact Guidance System (I.G.S.) enhances the foot’s natural gait from heel strike to toe-off.

Launching now at Dover Street Market London in very limited numbers RRP £225
