Known as a cultural personality from his work as a restauranteur and a writer, Eddie Huang is also known for his sneaker collabs.
This season, Huang adds to his catalog with an edition of the adidas Ultraboost. Culturally significant to his roots, the drop is inspired by Chinese New Year.
While we usually see the Ultraboost is fitted with Primeknit and TPU overlays, Huang uses a nonstandard construction. His edition replaces the TPU with leather and adds a leather toe unit for added support. While keeping the Prineknit base of the design, Huang does not use the current weave design for the textile.
The colorway has a Chineses New Year vibe in red with gold detailing. The detailing includes a Chinese character on the heel and Panda logo on the tongue (referncing his “Human Panda” mantra). Gold also adds form to the underside of the leather cage.
The kicks should be hitting shops this month like Feature Boutique in Las Vegas. The kicks are expected to drop on the 7th of February.
