Earlier this year Kobe Bryant was touring through Asia where he was warmly welcome. In Singapore Kobe was greeted by sneaker artist SBTG who created the Nike Dunk High "Black Mamba" as a 1 of 1 for the Lakers superstar.
SBTG has revisited the Nike Dunk with a Kobe theme, however this creation will be available to the public. The Nike Dunk Low comes in a black and purple colorway with a leopard print on the purple elements on the heel and collar. The side panel, which comes in black, subtly features Kobe's logo. The Kobe theme is reinforced with his number "24" on the right and "MVP" on the left, a reference to his NBA Final's MVP award.
The kicks are part of the Varsity Bones collection hand crafted by SBTG. The kicks are scheduled to release on the 16th of November 2009 at 10 AM E.S.T. for $600 at Royale Fam.
During this years NBA playoffs Nike launched one their funniest commercial series in recent memory. These TV Spots featured the puppet character Lil Dez who now wants to congrat Kobe for taking the trophy back to L.A. with this sneaker and matching T-Shirt:
The Lil Dez "Congrats Kobe" Big Nike is made of red synthetic leather on the upper with an embossed "Lil Dez" on the heel and handwritten letters saying "congrats Kobe" on the side of the sneaker. The sock liner and inner part of the tongue are colored varsity purple. On the tongue tag you have the Lil Dez' logo as well as another handwritten "MVP" and "24" on the inside.
We can't wait to see when this congratulation kicks will arrive at quickstrike accounts - rumors has it that they will release soon. We will keep you posted on more specific info!
As the Los Angeles Lakers put a hurting on the Orlando Magic in game one of the NBA Finals, Kobe Bryant was rocking the NBA Finals version of signature sneaker the Zoom Kobe IV.
If the Lakers win, this will be their first post Shaq championship, a huge moment for Kobe's career.
Last year Kobe Bryant showed the world how to jump over an Aston Martin sports car in a pair of Hyper Dunks. Kobe's massive hops and viral marketing skills have inspired a pair of the Nike Hyper Dunk.
The kicks take on a colorway inspired by the color of Aston Martin Kobe hoped over, coming in a burgundy and metallic silver colorway. The kicks feature some detailed touches like a silhouette of a pre-jump Kobe on the tongue and a frame by frame representation of the jump on the insole.
Sadly the kicks are samples with no word on a release, which is a real shame.
Releasing tomorrow at Chicago's Footlocker House of Hoops are three kicks from Nike. The Nike Larry Hughe Hyperdunk Supreme comes in a white, black and red colorway with the word "Homegrown" on the tongue. Next up we see the Nike Kobe Snakr-Pool Hyper Dunk in a canyon yellow and purple colorway. Finally we have a look at the Nike Drew Gordon Powermax in a white black and red colorway.
