Airwalk Terrain x Staple Design x Star Trek

Jeff Staple and his design company's relationship with Airwalk continues with the release of a Star Trek pack. True fans of the Star Trek franchise will automatically understand the colorways as based upon Starfleet issue uniforms. The Airwalk Terrain comes in Captain Kirk gold, engineering class red and Science class blue. Along with the colorway references the kicks feature the Star Trek delta shield on the heel tab and tongue with the shield also seen as a lace clip. Another strong creation from Staple Design.

Look for the collection at Reed Space and Payless. The gold version of the sneakers are available only online.

Converse's Chukka Boat shoe known as the Seastar earlier this year served as one of the sneaker's to be styled in the Staple Design "Pigeon" look.

Jeff Staple is once again working with the Converse Seastar, this time as part of the Converse 1HUND(RED) collection. The kicks come in an Air Jordan inspired colorway in a black base with red accents resting on a white midsole. Airwalk Heaven x Staple Design

Yesterday we had a look at the newly released Airwalk Terrain x Jeff Staple, from the new collection, which aim is to blend affordability and quality in terms of design and construction. The collection includes numerous pairs of kicks for both men and women including the Airwalk Heaven.

We were sent a pair of the Airwalk JS Awk Heaven and here are our thoughts.

The kicks are constructed in a canvas upper in a black and white colorway with red accents sitting on a grey sole. The kicks are co-branded with both Airwalk and Staple Design tags on the upper and insole.

The upper is covered in a contrasting white abstract design, which appears to mimic waves whether they be water, wind, sound. The design is also on the insole on a grey base with red accents.

While my feelings about the Airwalk Terrain x Staple are mixed, I really like the Heaven. The kicks feature a solid construction and the abstract design and red accents make the kicks the jewel of the collection. An added bonus is these are the cheapest kicks in the collection at only $30 a pair. You can find them know US based discount chain payless.

Airwalk Terrain x Staple Design

Last month the daring move by Jeff Staple to connect with skate brand Airwalk was made public. Staple is best known for his designs that have graced major sneaker brands footwear in limited numbers and availability.

The Staple Design by Airwalk collaboration is exclusively available in the US at Payless as shop known for cheap kicks. The connection continues the trend for high profile designers to hook up with discount chains to produce affordable and fashionable products.

We were sent a pair of the Airwalk Terrain x Staple Design, and here are our thoughts.

The Airwalk Terrain is a nice looking skate boot in two tones of brown sitting on a black midsole. The upper is composed of both real and faux leather with extra padding on the tongue and collar. The kicks come with both red and black laces.

In terms of style the kicks deliver a nice mix of brown tones and black. In terms of construction the kicks feel solid from the sole and the upper. The only concern you may have is with the tongue, which comes in soft padded cushioning but the construction is not made to last. The collar is also cushioned and has durable construction in comparison to the tongue but does feels not as secure as the rest of the sneaker.

Overall the kicks are on point especially if consider the the $50 price tag. You can pick these up now at payless and reed space.

Staple Design x Airwalk JIM95

Staple Design x Airwalk JIM95

The Jeff Staple Airwalk collection includes the Airwalk JIM95 in an all white colorway. Staple has chosen a clean white colorway for the JIM95 because the sneaker will play a large part in future collections and he wanted to start the sneaker on a "clean slate".

The sneakers are now available exclusively at Payless (and at Reed Space in NYC). This of course will turn off some due to the stores connection with low quality footwear in terms of both design and quality. However, Staple Designs involvement makes the kicks worthy of a second look at least.
