Last month the daring move by Jeff Staple to connect with skate brand Airwalk was made public. Staple is best known for his designs that have graced major sneaker brands footwear in limited numbers and availability.
The Staple Design by Airwalk collaboration is exclusively available in the US at Payless as shop known for cheap kicks. The connection continues the trend for high profile designers to hook up with discount chains to produce affordable and fashionable products.
We were sent a pair of the Airwalk Terrain x Staple Design, and here are our thoughts.
The Airwalk Terrain is a nice looking skate boot in two tones of brown sitting on a black midsole. The upper is composed of both real and faux leather with extra padding on the tongue and collar. The kicks come with both red and black laces.
In terms of style the kicks deliver a nice mix of brown tones and black. In terms of construction the kicks feel solid from the sole and the upper. The only concern you may have is with the tongue, which comes in soft padded cushioning but the construction is not made to last. The collar is also cushioned and has durable construction in comparison to the tongue but does feels not as secure as the rest of the sneaker.
Overall the kicks are on point especially if consider the the $50 price tag. You can pick these up now at payless and reed space.
