Eric Koston's second signature sneaker with Nike SB is set to debut at skate shops and other Nike dealers on the First of April, though the Quickstrike Easter colorway is already available.
The sneaker is the result of a "back and forth" process between Eric Koston and the Nike design team with Koston active in the process creating sketches and directing the innovation of the kicks. Koston states his focus on performance...
"The breathability was something I wanted to add, because the Koston 1 didn’t focus on that. Fit was another concern with me and I wanted it to fit better with an inner booty that’s all connected to the tongue as one piece so it fits snugly."
Koston took inspiration from the Nike LunarGlide+ to provide heel support...
"The heel counter was another part of the fit. There’s a heel counter hidden under the suede. That’s another technical feature and there’s a mesh window to give it some flex so when the heel crashes, the heel counter is designed to stay at the point of your foot where it should be at all times."
"You see guys bail and their shoes go flying off. With my shoe you can tie loose but yet designed to stay on your foot."
The final result is a Lunarlon cushioned sneaker that rests on a flexible outsole that supports a TPU reinforced suede abrasion resistant upper, which is evolutionary from the first Koston sneaker rather a revolutionary shift in tech or design. The debut will include this black and pink edition but other colorways will be available too. We will keep you posted.
