Black History Month may start next week but Nike is getting an early start to the celebration with the release of its BHM sneaker collection. Included in the range is this colorway of the Nike Air Force 1 Downtown Low. The sneaker comes dressed in hazelnut leather, a fury Swoosh and touch of total orange, which rests on a translucent sole. The kicks and the print on the heel, insole and tongue are inspired by Ivorian Didier Drogba who is currently playing for Shanghai Shenhua.
Drogba with a light bulb morphed with soccer ball, representing his ongoing involvement in bringing solar light bulbs to impoverished areas in Africa.
The kicks are dropping both in Europe and the US on Saturday with availability now through Nike.com Europe. Independents in Europe like SNS will also carry the sneaker. Stateside Nike.com has the release set for 8am EST. Check your locals too.
