Nike has recently teamed up with Google to create the new online social networking site dedicated to football players and fans of the sport. Joga, the site is undoubtedly aimed at creating hype around Nike leading up to the World Cup in Germany this summer. Currently one can only become a member of the site through invitation, however you can ask for an invite on the site and they claim they will send you and invite in a few weeks.
“Joga will help you connect to people who share the same passion for the game and also access exclusive content around athlete profiles, video clips and photos.”

New Nike Blog

Nike has introduced a new blog focusing on its new basketball shoe releases and promotions. The site is rich in well produced Photography and breaking sneaker releases. Many bloggers have been critical of the blog for its lack of community because one can not comment on the entries.
This is not the first entry into the bloging world for Nike, it was previously involved in the now dead blogs the daily snkr and the art of speed.
I will of course be monitoring the site to bring sneaker updates from the site.

Adidas is bringing back “Adicolor” its do it yourself customizable sneakers. The all white sneakers come with several different waterproof color markers so that you can create your own unique kicks. The shoes should be out soon. For more info check out Adidas website.

Just For Kicks DVD Release

"Les culte des Baskets" AKA "Just for Kicks" a documentary about sneaker culture was released two days ago hear in France. The film covers the origins of sneaker culture and it relation to the rise of Hip Hop get input from hip hop legends such as Russell Simmons and Run DMC. The film tries to understand sneaker culture from many perspectives talking to designers and marketers to understand how shoes are produced.
The film is available for purchase in two formats a simple DVD or a collector's edition.
The collectors editions comes in the pictured shoe box and several extras such as a bonus film on how to keep you kicks clean, a short documentary about Tinker Hatfield , the uncut section about the deal between Run DMC and Adidas , and other info. The Collectors edition also comes with a pair of fat laces and the "give us a million dollars t-shirt".
The regular version retails for 19.90 euros while the Collectors edition is going for 35 both are available at Fnac and Footlocker outlets in France.

Nike Switzerland

Nike is hoping on making a billion Euros with its football related sales revolving around the World Cup. In the continued effort to boost its marketing presence Nike has opened yet another Nike Store in Europe this time the first ever in Switzerland: the city of Lausanne is now has its very own Nike Store. Nike is not stopping there with plans on opening a Nike Store in the capital city Bern.
